10:15 – 11:15 Modern Interactive Museum
In the museum you will find superbly selected expositions using the most modern technology that will help you learn the meaning of petroglyphs (rock paintings). In 11 exhibition halls (Halls are equipped with 3D panoramas, touch screens) there is a huge collection of priceless historical exhibits, interesting for both adults and children.
11:15 – 12:15 Open Air Museum
You will be able to see the rock paintings with your own eyes, which will tell you about the culture, economy, worldview, customs and traditions of the people who already settled this fertile corner of Azerbaijan at that distant time. Once upon a time, the sea splashed right at the foot of these mountains, but then receded, leaving characteristic relief traces on the polished rocks. After accidentally, in the 30s of the 20th century, unusual drawings were discovered on the rocks, more than 6 thousand of them have been “discovered” (on 1000 rocks). Also found were ancient primitive dwellings - caves and parking lots, more than 100 thousand objects of material culture. Gobustan petroglyphs belong to different eras. They were made between the 10th and 18th millennium BC. until the Middle Ages AD.
